Location and route

The B&B Houseboat Bambooboat (in short BBB) is located at 400 meters from the central station. To go from the central station to the BBB you have to leave the station on the city side, turn left without crossing the water and after 100 meters, just before the Double Tree Hilton Hotel you turn right over the bridge and after 100 meters left and stay on the left side of the Prins Hendrikkade, go past the statue of Prins Hendrik and after 100 meters go down a ramp opposite the Amrath Hotel (with many flags on top) You go past 2 piers and at the third you will see my mailbox.with number 520. Turn left, cross the footbridge after 70 meters and see my boat as the third and last.. You can always call me at 00316 38250463.

Oosterdok harbour

The harbour in which the BBB is moored is called the Oosterdok: this is the most central open water in town. When a compass was used to draw the half circles of the canals around 1600 one leg of the compass punctured the BBB so to speak. The boat offers a view on the library (with a pizzeria beneath and a restaurant above), a conservatory (with occasional concerts), a technology museum (Nemo) for kids and parents and a maritime museum with a replica of a 17th century sailing ship. The Nieuwmarkt is a 10 minute walk from the BBB. Here is an old city gate (nowadays a restaurant) on a square surrounded by restaurants and terraces. Behind it is Chinatown, the red light district, the old church and much more. The Rembrandt House is a little bit further. Around this part of the town are the canals. They can be explored on foot or by bike or by boat. Both happen to be for rent on the Bambooboat: bikes for 5 € per day, canoes for next to nothing and an electrically propelled boat for a bit more.

Coming by car

It is no longer possible to park a car near the boat. The nearest parking place is under the library and conservatory opposite the boat. The tariff is around 20 € a day and the walking distance of the parking entrance is 800 meters from the boat.
